Criminal Defense

I take great pride in representing individuals accused of criminal wrongdoing.  Standing up on behalf of Alaskans against the government and prosecuting authorities is why I became a lawyer, and is the single most rewarding aspect of my career.

I was born and raised in Alaska, and am familiar with the unique challenges and opportunities our great state has to offer. In addition to exceeding the minimum recommended hours of continuing legal education classes annually, I help train new lawyers, provide legal education instruction to fellow defense lawyers, and have lectured at the Alaska Public Defender annual conference in Girdwood, Alaska.

I am very proud to have been honored with a “Superb” rating by Avvo in recognition of my experience and professional conduct, and to have been awarded the prestigious “Champion of Liberty” award in 2012 for my advocacy on behalf of a client who was tried and acquitted of 1st degree murder in the Sports Authority homicide trial.

While no attorney can promise you a particular outcome, I make the same promise to all of my clients: I will zealously and aggressively represent you to the best of my ability, communicate with you and thoroughly explain your options, and work with you in pursuit of the best possible outcome to your case.

I graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin Law School in Madison, WI.

I served as a senior law clerk to the Hon. John W. Sedwick, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Alaska.

I spent over five years as a felony criminal trial attorney with the Alaska Public Defender Agency, where I represented hundreds of Alaskans accused of crimes ranging from Theft to Murder.

I attended the National Criminal Defense College in Macon, GA.

Licensed to appear in all Municipal, State and Federal Courts throughout Alaska.

Founding Member of the Alaska Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, where I serve on the Board of Directors.

2012 recipient of the AKACDL “Champion of Liberty” Award in recognition of my work in the Sports Authority homicide trial.

Member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Alaska Bar Association.
